Quick Contact

Not much can withstand 40,000 PSI. Whether your stripping membranes, paint, rubber, or mastics, ultra-high-pressure cleaning can leave concrete and metal surfaces looking brand new. But, with great power comes great volatility. Our highly trained team of blasters can help ensure high-pressure streams stay safe and contained.

The Ultimate Water Jet

Ultra-high pressure water jetting is the use of pressures above 25,000 PSI to clean asphalt, concrete, and metal surfaces for the purpose of repair and reapplication of coatings.

Experts in the Field

Because of the extremely volatile nature of the ultra high pressure stream, preplanning/scheduling; containment; environmental health and safety; and familiarity with and maintenance of equipment are all critical and must be addressed. All of these items are part of the CUI project process and culture. Coatings Unlimited can also assist in the the development of specifications, schedules, and safety programs for ultra high pressure applications.

The process can been used to remove membranes, elastomerics, paint, rubber, mastics, and paint.

Typical applications include metal surfaces, highways, runways, and parking structures.

Safety and Certifications

Environmental, health, and safety are ingrained into our culture. At Coatings Unlimited, we firmly believe that no job is worth the life and wellbeing of any one of our team members or the community around us. For nearly seventy years, our team has worked diligently to create and sustain a culture of safety by taking a proactive approach to task-specific training, education, and responsibility. We believe safety is a responsibility we all share.

Compliance with industry certifications lowers the risk shouldered by facility owners when selecting a specialized contractor. We are proud to meet the Society for Protective Coatings requirements for QP-1, QP-2, QP-8, and QS-1 certifications, and more, meaning we are cleared to prepare surfaces, apply industrial coatings, as well as to remove and manage potentially hazardous materials

Frequently asked questions

Ultra-High Pressure cleaning is an industrial-grade surface preparation method that utilizes water pressurized to levels exceeding 25,000 PSI, often reaching up to 40,000 PSI. Unlike standard power washing, which is used for surface-level grime, UHP jetting acts as a precision stripping tool. It uses the kinetic energy of high-velocity water to physically shear away tough materials from substrates like concrete, asphalt, and metal without the need for chemical solvents or abrasive sands.

The sheer force of UHP cleaning makes it ideal for removing the most stubborn industrial contaminants and coatings. It is frequently used to strip away elastomeric membranes, thick industrial paints, and specialized coatings that have bonded to surfaces over time. Additionally, it is the preferred method for removing heavy rubber buildup from airport runways and highways, as well as clearing away mastics and adhesives that are otherwise difficult to scrape or dissolve.

This service is highly versatile and used across several infrastructure and industrial sectors. In the transportation industry, it is essential for highway and runway maintenance, specifically for removing old traffic markings and rubber deposits. In the commercial sector, it is often used in parking structures to strip failed membranes and prepare the concrete for resurfacing. It is also a critical tool in industrial facilities for cleaning large metal tanks or structures where surface purity is required before applying new protective coatings.

UHP cleaning is considered an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional sandblasting or chemical stripping. Because it uses only water, it eliminates the creation of toxic dust clouds and the disposal issues associated with spent abrasive media. Coatings Unlimited follows strict containment protocols to ensure that water runoff and any debris removed from the surface are managed responsibly. Furthermore, the company holds SSPC QP1 and QP2 certifications, which mandate high standards for safety and environmental protection in industrial projects.

Operating equipment at 40,000 PSI carries significant risk, which Coatings Unlimited manages through rigorous professional standards. Every project begins with a comprehensive planning phase to establish safety programs and maintenance schedules tailored to the specific site. The work is performed by highly trained blasters who are specialized in handling UHP equipment. By maintaining national certifications and adhering to strict technical specifications, the team ensures that the powerful equipment is used effectively while minimizing the risk to personnel and the surrounding property.
